Down to 66,5 kg. The final day has come!
What was on the menu today?
Breakfast
40 g All bran with 50 ml milk, 100 ml orange juice and 1 tps of joghurt.
Lunch
200 g of boiled green noodles (Japan has lot's of different typs of noodles)
Breaktime
250 ml of fruitjuice
Evening meal
250 g of boiled rice with green vegetable curry
50 g cucumber salat
The fasting time is over, but the pursuit of loosing weight isn't. Even on holiday, I want to try to eat as little as possible.
I believe eating was given as an enjoyment to us. The taste, the smell, memories associated with food like," this almost tastes like my mother's cooking" are a kind of pleasure. Of course, there are the opposites, too, but I'm talking of the nice ones.
Not just eat, but enjoy the smell, the taste, the texture, chewing carefully, taking it all in. Eating consciously with all senses, becoming a gourmet. Eating a little bit, but with great pleasure, and being satisfied, that's what I want to learn.
Tomorrow we are going on a holiday for a few days!

Today was rather different form what I expected it to be.
In the mornig I had the usual: a cup of herbtea with honey and a glass of juice.
At lunch time I had the second serving of the soup I made yesterday evening. In between I had lots of water, It's very hot and the sweat is just pouring down.
Had my afternoon breaktime juice before we went to walk the dogs. So far everything was perfect.
Then my husband wanted to go bookshop, and I thought, good opportunity for some shopping. That's when it started. Not very honourable for me, but I think I should be honest!
We took our time wondering around a big department and shopping mall. Suddenly there was this lovely coffee smell. And for some reason all the discipline I had the last 10 days broke down.
We sat down had a lovely cup of coffee, and half a muffin each. While I took little nibbles of my muffin, chewing carefully, and washing them down with coffee, inside a tiny voice was saying: You got to confess this in your blog!
Now it's out!
Not a good example to follow!
The evening meal consisted of 150 g cooked rice in 200 ml green tea. It's called "Ochazuke" in Japanese, real traditional.
Hopfully I will do better tomorrow!

The final day has come. The scale the morning told me 67 kg. Not as much as I hoped for, but anyway I feel great because I was able to do it!
My body started to loose weight so I hope, it is going to continue to do so! Still another 10 kg to go.
Tomorrow will be the first day of the fast breaking program. Will write more specifics tomorrow.
Original soup of the day:
300 g Cabbage
50 g Spinach
chop up vegis and boil in
300 ml of water with 2 tbs. of soya-sauce
mix in mixer, add another 100 ml of water
2 servings
Well, let's make for the countdown!

Only one day lelft. Actually I'm quite sorry! Because I feel so great I would like to go on for a few more days. But we are going away next week for a holiday, so it will not be possible.
Some people have extended the fasting period up to 40 days, and they felt great. But beyond that it is not advisable, because the body starts to feed on essential body resources, which can cause health problems.
One more remark, usally one doesn't feel hunger while fasting. It's amazing isn't it! If you start feeling hungry, then your body tells you it is time to stop fasting. It's a warning, before it starts to get to the resources. The timing is very individuel, and depents on ones general physical condition. So if your body tells you it's time to start eating again, better listen to it, and break the fast.
In case you want to repeat the fasting, please leave at least a period of six month in between. Remember fasting is hard work for your system!
Original soup for the day:
Pumpkin 200 g
Carrots 1oo g
Potatoe 15o g chop up all the vegis into smal pieces
delute 250 ml of tomatoe juice with 100 ml of water, add vegis and boil until soft.
add Basil and put into mixer
after well mixed add 1oo ml of water
flavour with salt and pepper
makes 3 servings
Hope you'll come by tomorrow, too!

Oh, it's really great fitting easily into clothes that formerly have been a little tight.
Felt really good today, only after coming home from shopping with two big bags full of vegis, my back needed a rest.
Actually, my main event for the day was playing the game, I talked about a few posts ago, "World of warcraft". Starting to like it! At the moment it's only a 10 day trial, but consider to buy it. The game has a lot of interesting worlds and quests to solve. Because it's an online game, and people form all over the world are participating one can make a lot of new friends. If you are the lucky owner of a head-set, you are able to communicate with the people in the game, otherwise you can typ messages. My brother told me, that 5 million people are taken up with this game, and 45 % of it are women. Even people over 60 years old are seem to enjoying the game. This as a side track!
Created another delicious soup today:
Pumpkin 250 g
Carrots 50 g
chop vegis into small pieces and boil in 300 ml of water with 1 tablespoon of soya-sauce. If the vegis are soft add
Spinach 50 g chopped up
fill into mixer
flavour with nutmeg, salt and pepper
Looks revolting, but the taste is nice!
Only two more days to go!
@ 2007-08-07 – 11:43:29
It's steadily going down!
Yeah! 67,5 kg.
My hope is I will drop to 65 kg, by the end of the fasting period!
No problems today. Woke up at six o'clock this morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up had my cup of herb tea and read my bible.
What I greatly enjoyed, the other times while I was fasting, was the deep, almost coma like sleep. When I lied down afer lunch, I usually had a nice snooze. But this time it's quite different. Sleep seems to be rather shallow with kind of oppressing dreams, and after lunch time, although I would love to, I can't go to sleep. This is only a remark on the way!
Made my second original soup today! Give some to my husband for his dinner tonight.
140 g potatoes
5o g red pepper
4o g cabbage (vegis chopped up into small pieces)
boil in
350 ml of water
when soft fill into mixer and add,
30 g of finely chopped up baby dills
afer mixing add
200 ml of hot water
flavour with salt, pepper and paprika powder
makes 3 servings
Can believe only three days left. This reminds me, the ones, who said they wanted to join and try the fasting, too, I would be delighted, if you could give some feedback.
Would love to hear how you getting on.
Now I better go and do my 30 min. exercising!
@ 2007-08-06 – 11:38:18
It's shortly after 7 pm, and for the first time I' m glad the day is almost over. Felt rather groggy today. Maybe yesterday was a little bit too much. Also talked two nights in a row to my brother in Germany over the internet until two o'clock in the morning.
Used the mixer, or do you call it blender, we purchased yesterday, to make my first soup.
50 g broccoli
70 g carrots
70 g potatoes (all vegis chopped up into smal pieces)
300 ml water
1 cube of consomme soup
Boil vegis until soft, mix them in the mixer, add 50 ml of water, it makes 2 servings.
Well, I intend to go to bed early today!
You have a lovely day!
@ 2007-08-05 – 15:10:07
It was a full course day! - Don't worry it wasn't anything to eat, but a day full of activities. In the morning my husband suggested to go bowling. We had some fun but both of us didn't score very well this time. After that we went shopping for a mixer. Here in Japan are the shops open on a Sunday.
The mixer I wanted to have to make my own vegetable soup from now on. My husband remarked that the package soup is not very good for ones health.
Back home, I downloaded a 10 days trial of the world of warcraft game. Want to play it together online with my brother in Germany.
In the afternoon we took our dogs for a drive and walked around in a park, not to far from where we live. We had to climb stairs and there I noticed that my condition dropped. Otherwise I really feel great, but get esaily emotional.
But anyway, today is half-time. Isn't it great!
One pleasant thing I noticed this morning. The skin gets smoother! This is a very nice result while fasting, skin problems get better, the skin gets smoother, clearer and one looks a little younger! Wonderful, isn't it!
For his evening meal my husband wanted a soup that was shown an TV the other day. Because I didn't have all the ingredience, we had to go shopping again. The soup was a success!
So it was a rather eventful Sunday!
@ 2007-08-04 – 08:43:23
This morning the scale pointed to 68,5 kg. Also my stomach looks a little flatter than before. Feel great, but not as great as yesterday, and although I don't feel hungry, my stomach now and then grumbles a bit.
It's hot and humid today, 33 degrees, one really doesn't want to go out. So I watched TV and read a book about Borderline-Syndrom. Like psychology!
Finished my 30 min. excerises just before writing this post.
Sometimes, while cooking for my husband I need to be very careful. Do you have the habbit of putting a little piece of this and a little piece of that into your mouth, while preparing a meal. I got it! Suddenly I find myself happily taking up a piece of chopped carrot, or cucumber transport it to my mouth and then a tiny voice in my brain cries: NO, YOU ARE FASTING! And it lands back on the board.
Today I want to give a hint about bad adour. Bad breath, bad body smell.
Actually it's a good sign, because it showes the body gives rid of many bad things. Fasting is not only for weightloss, or spiritual reason, but also is used often in pysical healing programs. If bad breath is noticed, like I did today, best idea I got so far is, either brush my teeth or gurgle. The body odour takes a bit more time to deal with. An extra shower, changing clothes, if possible sleeping with open window, renewing bed sheets( if you sweating a lot during your sleep) every other day, will help to feel comfortable. Washing sheets is hard work I know, but one sleeps so much better in a clean fresh sheet.
Now it's time to feet the dogs, have my afternoon drink, and then go for a walk with hubby and dogs.
Since it is still morning in Europe. Have a nice day! ![]()

Today I feel great and energetic. The pain in my foot has disappeared completely; I fitted smoothly in a pair of trousers, that were quite tight a few weeks ago; walked to the shop 25 min. each way and did all my house-cleaning. Only the scales this morning didn't show a visible weightloss.
Every diet is a strain on the body, and fasting is hard work for the system.
Therefore easy going is good. The weekend is coming up, so it's good to relax and to pamper oneself a little bit. If you are planning a drive through the country, I advise you to sit in the passanger seat. Driving a car could be a little dangerous. Although I fell great, I noticed that my reaction and my movements are slower than usual. Everything drops a little bit in pace.
Concentration goes down a bit, and the brain isn't as quick as it used to be.
But no need to worry, it will pass.
Another thing I like to mention is breaking the fast. If for some reason it can't be continued, or the decided period had come to an end, to dig in straight away would be a great shock to the system. Two, better three days of gradually going back to normal food would be advisable.
1. Day
Morning rather watery porridge (rice- or potatoe soup)
Lunch soup with mashed vegitables
Dinner same as lunch
2. Day
Morning little bit more solid porridge (rice- or potatoe soup)
Lunch mashed potatoes (or ather vegis)
Dinner same as lunch
3. Day
Morning porridge or cereal, joghurt
Lunch boiled vegetables
Dinner Vegetables, little bit of soft meat
(give everything a good chewing )
In order not to gain back the weight, continue to eat moderately. Now that you have experienced one can survive and feel good with almost no food, there is no need to going back to old bad habits.

Well, I was very happy this morning, when my scale told me 69 kg. Also it thrilled me to hear that someone wanted to join, and another one considering it.
It's always nicer, more interesting and challeging to do things together.
This morning I had to run to the toilet three time, to do business, which made me think of : Better talk about dehydration. Also it is summer, ones get hot and sweaty.
So it is very important to give the body back essential fluid. Through sweating and a kind of diarrhoea the body looses not only water but also a lot of minerals. Those have to be replaced by drinking not only water but mineral water. There are mineral- and vitamin supplements available that can be deluted in water, or be bought directly as a drink. To be on the save side, it's good to include such a drink into the program every day ,or at least every other day and an extra little sprinkle of salt into your soup.
What I like to mention to is that I'm not a medical person. I only can speak of my own experience and the few morsels of knowledge picked up here and there. But I surfed the internet this morning and there is heaps of material on fasting. Also Amazon offers various books on the subject.
Two sides I found kind of recommendable:
http://www.fasting.com/journaltoc.html
http://www.fasting.com/spiritual.html
Sorry, if there is no link, I don't know how to create one.
It's one o'clock and I better have my lunch (but feel no great hunger) and my lie-down.
@ 2007-08-01 – 11:16:32
It's 6:30 pm, the first day is almost over and I'm rather encouraged. Before, my addiction to coffee always made me feel miserable, but lately
I 'm only drinking coffee in the morning, so not an addict anymore!![]()
A few times my stomach grumbled a bit, but after filling it up with water it stopped complaining.
Followed the program so far as described in yesterdays post. Only the 30 min. exercise and the evining meal are still on the agenda.
Looked up what the dictionary had to say about fasting.
fast - go without food, or without certain kinds of food, esp as a religious duty, (then it gives examples and later it says) season of fasting - I liked that one.
Now I better go an prepare a meal for my husband, because he wants "real food".
Almost forgot, for the record, started of with 70 kg. (a kg package must have got lost on the way)![]()
